I take 1200 mg a day when I am on cycle...(like now!!!)Takes up to two weeks to really kick in but sometimes in as short as three days. Guess it depends on how your cycles begin. Blocks better then 80% for me. For the ones that break through that it's start the oxygen immediately...(like as soon as he gets that sick to his stomach oh God here it comes feeling) and then take two cafergot orally. That knocks down most of them. Would hesitate to have him take the lithium before he sees the doctor as it takes a few tries to find the optimum serum level to where it's therapeutic and not toxic! I'm about 185 pounds and the 1200 mg a day works for me. Wish you luck. I hope your husband knows how lucky he is to have a wife that gets involved. You're a doll to do it.
