rcw, we have had many discussions on the board about psychedelic mushrooms and LSD, which I think is an even better treatment than mushrooms.
There is no question that these substances are effective as pain-breakers and have provided what amounts to a 'cure' for many cluster customers in the past.
In the '70's, it was common for pain and headache clinics to use them with consistently excellent results.
Some who were on this board during the most recent series of discussions might remember this message from RIDER, which I copy from January:

So, although I do not recommend the use of illegal drugs or substances and never have and for god's sake never as long as they are illegal, I can still bitch out the ignorant fools who run our society when I say that we are in need of medical tools, treatments and ideas which are not tainted by insane superstitions nor laws which might be in favor of other people's agendas.
Read some of the posts before and after that February 18th post and see what those who have studied the mushrooms and have used them say about it.
And I will add this: I took a small amount of Psilocybe Baeocystis mushrooms during an attack earlier in this cycle. The headache broke in just under thirteen minutes and the cycle was interrupted for weeks. The side effects were good rather than bad -- not at all unpleasant.
Too many people are living under old, paranoid delusions about what these mushrooms are all about and what good they can bring.
Now you see what you've done, rcw...You've gotten me the hell started again!
