I have had CHs for 24 years and the only thing I have been able to identify as a definite trigger while in a cycle has been alcohol.
Two years ago I gave up a 10 year marijuana habit and since then have been through only one cycle. The headaches during this last cycle were less frequent than what I usually get and I didn't have quite as many 10s as I usually have. The cycle lasted just as long as it normally does. It's too early yet to tell if there is any relation between quitting marijuana and the reduction in frequency but I will certainly keep you all posted. I usually get them every 1-2 years. The only medication I use for the headaches is Imitrix injections and that works for me every time.
PS: I still smoke cigarettes and am not quite ready to give that up just yet.
Take care CI and good luck finding ways to cope that work for you.
