While doing some chores around the house yesterday, I was listening to a TV show about sex and the different ways that males and females attract each other with body language, perfumes, eye contact, etc.
While reviewing how certain scents can trigger sexual emotions, a physician was talking about an area in the back of the nose that I believe is called the VNO. If I remember correctly, VNO stands for Vidian Nerve O(something)?????. I am not positive about this so if I am incorrect, please be nice! It is a tiny, circular area that is, I believe, somehow connected to the hypothalamus via nerve branches (union of greater petrosal and deep petrosal nerves).
Did anyone else see this show and if you did, do you recall the section of the show about VNO?
I have checked my anatomy and physiology books that I have here at home and have found nothing on this topic but will do further research in the medical library at work this week.
