If O2 does help at all, it should kick in in considerably less than an hour.
As Riccardo mentioned, go for it as soon as possible.
But equally important is the right type of mask. It should not have additional holes around the inlet, as these are designed to suck in air, but for us an O2 concentration as high as possible is necessary. Those nose thingy with the two little tubes are quite useless to abort a CH. Many of us have success with a non-rebreather mask, with a reservoir bag attached. A flow rate of 8 liter/min or higher is needed.
