Before I finally went to a Neuro I had been taking Seldane for years to help fight the CH's. They helped at first but then I was having to take more of them to get relief. When Seldane was taken off of the market, I tried Alegra and Alegra D. Again they gave some relief in the beginning (at least enough where the pain didn't make me want to blow my head off). After awhile they stopped working completely. I tried everything I could thing of including nasal sprays, but it all proved to be completely futile. After seeing an Ear Nose and Throat specialist I was told that I needed surgery to correct a deviated septum, remove a bone spur and also widen my sinus passages. I am now 5 weeks post op and hopefully the surgery will help. I have also seen a Neuro and he prescribed Verapamil, Imitrex and O2, which has helped tremendously!!! I am now out of my cycle and pain free, only time will tell if the sinus surgery helped to control the CH's, but I'm not counting on it. I had very bad sinus problems and I know that by having the surgery that I can help that and that's all I can truly hope for. I guess the message here is that antihistimines may help for a little while but I know from experience that it is not a long term solution. See a Neuro and he can help you select the best course of med's to help you deal. Stay pain free!!!!
