I have used cafergot for years during my cluster. As they are winding down, I have noticed that even though I was only taking a third of a suppository by then, that a certain time of the day when I usually took the suppository I would get a slight cluster headache. I would take it and it would go away. These I believe were rebound headaches and I have read up on this and while some of the problem is the caffeine, the ergot in the medication also causes rebound. So they may be mostly over and he is getting rebounds from the cafergot. I finally cut the suppository into 4 pieces and after no major headaches in a weeks time, I pick a weekend, make no plans and come off completely. Good luck.
