Lee,
After reading all of your posts about GHB, I found myself feeling somewhat angry, discouraged and disappointed.
Let me start by saying that I don't know what type of person you are and tried to read your words with an open mind but when you wrote that GHB "is as easy to produce as bathtub gin" and that "you could knock yourself out for an hour or two", I got very scared and concerned for you. I assumed that you were going to try GHB in its as is state and just couldn't let this one go without posting my opinion and concerns. I know that there are times when I would take or do almost anything to get rid of the excruciating pain during my CHs but I couldn't let a fellow clusterhead make what I thought was a terrible mistake. I had these visions of you concocting a GHB home brew and going through awful adverse effects and I didn't want to see that happen. If my concern offended you, I'm sorry.
You also mentioned that "you get frustrated when people can't see the forest for the trees". I can see the forest very well, thank you, and understand the desire to find that one magic medication that will give clusterheads some relief or escape from the pain but I have a tough time thinking about using GHB even if it were refined/handled properly. I did some research at work on GHB and found that a warning and notice requesting manufacturers to issue a recall of GBL-containing products was issued by the FDA in January of 1999. This and other findings are why I personally would not use GHB.
I would never condemn anyone's search for or methods of pain relief. I know there have been times that I look back on the methods, treatments and therapies that I have tried and wonder what the heck was I thinking. Did I really think that would work? Well, at the time I was doing anything I could to try to keep my head from exploding.
Cudos to you for putting this idea out there. I'm sure all of us have pondered many "what ifs" from time to time. I was, however, disappointed when you asked for our input and, when input was returned, you seemed to be upset by "most of the people who responded". We all have our own opinions and should be able to express them (as you requested) without reading that we are wasting our time on the message board and that personal wishes are taboo.
I hope you can agree that we all have the right to disagree.
