Linda,
I'm very happy that Esgic+ has worked for you, as it has for me. Be aware, however, that your body will eventually require more to work, which is why your doctor may be cautious about overprescribing. If that becomes an issue, I have found that hydrocodone works almost as well (if taken before the CH begins) and has fewer side effects (for me, anyway).
In my current round of CHs, I find rotating pain medication has helped extend the time the Esgic+ actually worked (I'm in week 5 of CHs). In the five weeks, by mixing pain meds, judicious use of ice packs on tender points and the carotid artery on my CH side, I have kept my REALLY bad CHs to five (minor ones--those of varying intensity but lasting less than one hour-- have occurred almost every day, 1-3 times). This is a big improvement over my last two episodes, where I had whoppers almost every day for the duration.
In any case, continued good luck. If things begin to go bad again, consider mixing and matching--under your doctor's supervision.
