My cluster started last week.....the beginning of spring? did anybody ever hear about chronobiological factors in clusterheadaches? .like the pain is always in spring or winter or at night when you sleep?
I am very happy with sumatriptan because instead of 3 hours pain now i suffer 10-15 minutes pain. I have had clusters since 15 years now and still is difficult to coope with it. this is a very good site, it makes me feel i am not alone since i never have met another clusterpatient. I know what you are going through, i understand. Unfortunately many people do not understand how intense this pain is. I don't get mad about it because it really is difficult to understand. When you complain about pain and take a shot of sumatriptan and the pain goes away after ten minutes i am totally normal without pain again. That is hard to understand for people. For me sumatriptan is magic.
My doctor told me that there is a lot of scientific research the last years and there are going to come a lot of new medicines for migraine also new autoinjectors which may be useful for clusterheadaches and which don't have strong side effects on the heart like sumatriptan.
For me I hope that the profylaxe i am taking now will help...I have the feeling it does....i only use one time a day sumatriptan now, always at 5 o clock in the morning. in the past sometimes i took 4 a 5 sumatriptan shots a day...maybe a tip for you: I dont use the autoinjector, instead i try to use half of the injection which most of the times works so i can take more shots a day when i am having multiple attacks on a day...I remember having 6 to 8 attacks a day..that is hell...I remember a time without sumatriptan....
