Hi Gary,
Sorry, but can't help but smiling at the mental image you've created for me with you sitting in front of your 'fridge.....:o) I'm so glad it's working for you and it really is a great idea! My husband has been using cold (our garage in unheated and we live in Canada so in the fall and winter he'll stand out there with his oxygen and usually finds some relief) in combination with ice packs on the back of his neck. The cold also provides a further incentive to lower the blood pressure. I have taken his blood pressure while in an attack (when he can stand it, that is) and he is usually around 140/100. The cold will lower the diastolic (bottom) number to around 90 within about ten minutes and therefore the pain.
My only question to you is are you in danger of inhaling any of the freon from the fridge? What do you connect the end of the hose to on the fridge, exactly?
Oh, the things we try, huh?
I hope I haven't offended you by seeing the humour in this, but we have to be able to laugh sometimes don't we.
Thanks for the tip, Gary, and pain free days ahead for you.
Margi
p.s. since you're an ent guy, can you tell me if you have noticed ear pain as well with CH? Hubby is out of his cycle for the most part but is now telling me he thinks his ear is involved (infection) and his pain is localized there. I've been treating him with goldenseal (natural antibiotic) with some success but he has been waking again with ear pain.
