Patience and understanding for one but I'm sure
you already knew that. Being in the city that
you are I'm sure the resourses are available
to help. Check your phone book and also
call the gay switch board and ask for some
referals to local agencies who deal with this.
It's a very delicate issue. People who have
been abused usually have it so bottled up they
don't want to talk about it.
Joel needs to work with someone whom over time
he can learn to trust and freely discuss these
issues. Above all he needs to know none of
this was his fault and that it doesn't make
him a bad person.
