A few months ago, I posted a message here asking
anyone on Prednisone what their dosage was. I
found quite a variation, which told me there was
no "right" or "wrong" dosage. One fairly common ground,
though, was that everyone seemed to be starting
at 60 mg per day, minimum. What greatly varied
was the number of days at each dosage. I devised
a conservative regimen, and my doctor (who had
been on vacation) fully agreed with my decision.
I took 60 mg for 5 days, then 50 for 5 days, etc.,
until I got down to 1 pill of 20 mg. Then, I
got Prednisone in 5 mg and 1 mg tablets. So
that after I got down to 20 mg, I tapered even
more slowly: 19 mg for 1 day, then 18, etc., down
to 1 pill. I think that the extremely low dosage,
though, would only work if you were at the end of
a cycle. Otherwise, it probably wouldn't obliterate
the terrible headaches that come in the middle
of a cycle.
