at my clinic, it is routine to get either an MRI or at least a cat scan as a prelude to treatment whenever there is a headache complaint, my mother had such a tumor, but hers was't cancerous, she got a staff infection during the surgery so it ended up killing her anyway, I hope your dads cancer is operable and that he recovers, my best wishes to you and to your dad. I read in a Imaging magazine about a dye that increases the resolution of an MRI by a factor of 100, blurred scans became crystal clear, I don't recall the name of the dye, but I asked the techs at the MRI about it, they said it was too expensive, on other treatments for my son with Crohn's, I was much more assertive when they would say a treatment is too expensive, just would say back strongly, well you are not paying for it, get it done! One treatment that was too expensive came to six bucks if you can believe that, bad enough being ill, but at times you have to get assertive with your medical organization, the doctors are controlled by bean counters and it's that six dollars here and six dollars there that adds up, well they can save that six bucks elsewhere, but not with my son.
