As a ten year veteran I've learned how my Blood Pressure does in relation to Cluster Headache Attacks. When I'm in remission, I have normal BP, when I'm heading for a cycle I go to "high normal"....incidentally, I hit that point last Friday. When I'm in a cycle, my BP goes high several hours before an attack, so my Dr. gives me Atenalol or Verapimil at that time. This is for a two-fold purpose. The Atenalol will interfere slightly with the cycle, and Verapimil is the one the Neurologist prescribed to try to Prevent The Attacks, both medications are also used to control high blood pressure.
Check with someone more knowledgable than I to be sure, but I thing Atenalol is a Beta Blocker, and Verapamil is a Channel Blocker.
Hope this info is helpful to someone...also hope the Verapimil is helpful to me when I actually begin to take it. Later........MG
