Hi Dean; Along with the prednisone I take verapamil. Now remember that we all react different to different medications. When I began taking cortizone my Dr. prescribed prednizone, it didn't help much. My Dr. then changed me to Deltasone with excellent results (pain free!) but I gained about 40 Lbs.. During my last bad cycle the Dr. changed me to yet another cortizone called Decadron. They are in the same family but with slight quemical variations. Talk to your Neuro. about changing to a different steroid, it worked for me.
