Thanks to all of you who responded to my questions from earlier today. I value every bit of personal expeariance any of you are willing to share. After all the reading I've been doing here and elsewhere I thought I would be prepared to make a medication decision when the time came. (I was somehow hoping to try this med free but my husband is freaked out, concerned, worried, compassionate and wants me to try something). So, not so easy afterall. To answer a few questions: I was a couple weeks out of a five/six week cycle when I was diagnosed in December. Since then I have seen a second neurologist that confirmed the CH diagnosis and had an MRI that came back as "unremarkable" (hmmmmmm???). I haven't taken any meds yet for the clusters. I am a 30 year veteran of migraines so have a pretty clear idea what they are about. The pain I have with the clusters is completely, utterly and excruciatingly different...and from what I have learned here, I have never gone beyond about a 7. The prednisone I picked up today is Deltasone 20mg Tab. I have decided to wait until talking to the Dr. tomorrow before starting. I have concerns about verapamil because I have had some problems with heart palpatations/fibrillations...saw a cadiologist, did a sonagram, looked normal. Will ask more about verapamil. Thanks again.
