I've been taking 5-HTP (the precurser to serotonin) supplements for the past few months. No adverse reactions and there is a definite, but subtle, tranquilizing effect. I'm in remission so can't answer to how it treats CH.
Another indication that what you say is correct is that melotonin is made from serotonin. Normal people have a peak in melotonin levels at night, makeing them head for the sheets. CHers don't have this melotonin peak. We remain flat line. This could be due to 5-HT levels or maybe it's the hypothalamus not doing what it's supposed to do.
Whichever, it's an interesting line to research. I think you'll find it exciting, I have.
