First of all I'm pretty thick skulled! I've been doing this for so long that I don't have the problem's like Pin's and Needles any longer.
It's that very feeling that you can't stand the cold that helps divert your thoughts from the pain until the cold can work it's magic. You might try the cold water running only on your head first. You do get the sinsation that it's too cold, but fight past that and leave your head under the water or the ice bag on. This works for me and then when it's over it's over and there's no drug hangover to deal with and no rebound from the meds. Sailpappy
