High carbohydrate, low protein diet = increased levels of insulin in the body. Insulin clears most of the five amino acids from the body allowing plenty of tryptophan to reach the brain, which = increased brain serotonin.
Chocolate also contains caffeine(besides being a vasodilator & stimulant) which affects the same pathways of the brain as alcohol and nicotine.
PS. My mothering instincts are appalled at this steady diet of late night junk food. Tsk, tsk! Can't possibly be doing you any good.
