Hi DJ - I tried e-mailing ER and my message came back with the wrong address. I tried the one you posted but it didn't work. Did yours go through? If so, any response? Would you post that address again, please? I think the more of us that hit them, the more attention we will get.
Also, have you thought of approaching Chicago Hope as well? They seem to profile some "strange" diseases on there and they do have a character involved in neurology, I think.
I've save my letter to ER in case I can send it again. I've recommended they approach a CH sufferer as a technical advisor rather than a medical doctor.
