Why did it take me 13 years to get a doctor to diagnose me correctly? I had mentioned these headaches to every doctor I have seen for the last 13 years and no one ever took me seriously. I have discovered that mine usually(but not always) come after a night when I have been drinking and/or smoking. I quit smoking years ago but still do on occasion when I drink and am usually guaranteed to wake up with one of these headaches when I do. It is nice to know I am not the only one who wakes up feeling like a nail is being driven through my eye and also nice to know there are some possible ways to stop one of these, the only thing I was ever given was Imitrex and after taking about 6 of them I realized they were not going to work.
