Please, please be careful! Slowing your pulse by putting pressure or occluding the carotid artery is dangerous. Occluding one artery is in itself dangerous. Healthcare workers do this (massage the carotid artery) under guidance of cardiac monitoring to slow the pulse and correct certain heart rhythms. Pressure is never applied to both arteries. I will try MOST anything to stop the pain but this can leave some permanent deficits. Please take caution. I wish you the best in finding alternate pain methods.
