Carlos, the site I suggested you visit WAS the hospital that performs Gamma Knife Surgery. As Nancy said, it's noninvasive thus no hemorrhage or risk of infection. Radiosurgical thalamotomy or pallidotomy would destroy the tissues, which is used to control rigidity and involuntary movements like Parkinson's disease.
I also personally know a person who had ganglian nerve endings destroyed. I think this procedure is what Nancy's talking about concerning the risks. He did end up with numbness, but he now is CH free, so far no side effects other than the numbness. He feels the numbness on the head is a small price to pay, as he was a chronic CH sufferer ready to end his life. I'll be more than happy to follow up his case and ask him any future risks this particular procedure involves. I don't know exactly what takes place to burn the nerve endings; all I know is he received this treatment 4 times until they successfully got rid of his CH.
In any event, let us know how you are doing. It is a major decision to undergo a surgery, and I would imagine doctors would carefully evaluate the possibility for you.
