Carlos, you didn't say what surgery the doctor said it was, only cutting the nerve. My understand is that with cutting the nerve there is a good chance the pain can come back even worst as nerves grow back sending out little finger like things trying to find the other end. If they grow back wrong you could end up with pain all the time but still with numbness.
Also with surgery you can get neuromas on the nerve that are very painful too.
And you can get something like phatom pain people get after a limb has been cut...no limb but you still feel pain.
We all want out of pain but if a doctor says he will cut the nerve...get a second opinion. Also do research on the net about different kinds of surgery. I think Gamma Knife `might` be of some help with some clusters. There is no knife but they use radiation to distroy the nerve.
Let us know the name of the surgery the doctor suggested when you see him on Monday.
