I, too, am the wife of a sufferer and I know how helpless you feel. The best thing to do is to ask your husband HOW he wants you to help him but please don't ask him while he is under attack!! Ask him when he is pain free - he sure doesn't need to be trying to answer questions when he is in so much pain.
My husband gets MUCH more relief from ice, as Elaine says, heat only aggrivates him. Try it - we use those gel packs that you use to keep food cold when camping - slip them in a cloth gift bag so it isn't such a shock to the skin and he can mold it right to his neck or face.
Read as much as you can on the buttons to the left of this page - print stuff out - take it to the doc - do your homework. You are your husband's best defense right now.
