Hi Page,
I have this theory that "C" cycles are like a massive power that needs to be exhausted. I know that if I suffer through the ordeal of an event, my head feels remarkably clear when it is over. Only after 12-18 hours will the shadows start again and build from there into another event. On the other hand, if I abort an attack with say oxygen, the shadows are back within minutes (10-15) of removing the mask and often will build into another event. This can go on and on and on.....shadows...event....abort...shadows...event...abort...etc.
Going around in this circle for say 12 -14 hours will probably put it to rest for 12-24 hours when it will return again.
The same holds true for my whole cycle. If I try to abort a cycle too early using drugs, the cycle will return after a short period (2-4 weeks). If I ride out the cycle as much as possible I can have remission of years.
I too am on Prednisone at the moment. I rode this cycle for over a month and just could not take any more.
Everyone is different and we should try to listen to our doc's advice. However, for me I would never try to abort a cycle when it is just starting. Conversely, I try to hold on through as many events as I can before going to the oxygen/meds, and, I try to get through as much of the cycle as I can without trying to abort it with Prednisone or other med.
It is completely without medical backup that I suspect that going from episodic to chronic is a result of aborting too many events/cycles.
Good Luck
