I get a cluster cycle every year that lasts about 6 months. My first neuro tried verapamil, which didn't help. then i went on a combo of verapamil and depakote. These two didn't end the cycle, but reduced the frequency, and severity of the attacks, to a tolerable level, results i could live with. When that neuro moved, the new one didn't like the combo of drugs. The next cycle,he insisted I stick with depakote only. when I complained about a lack of relief, he raised the dosage, and said to give it more time!!I was able to get covera hs, which is a verapamil drug, from my GP, and things got better again. I never had any ill affects from the depakote, but in my case it didn't work by itself. As with all the drugs and treatments mentioned here,the results may differ greatly from person to person. I'm not in a cycle now but will try the depakote, verapamil combo again, and hope it still works.
