Gravol is the Canadian equivalent of the American Dramamine (you can get both here though). Mike takes 2 or 3 before bed when he is in cycle and it, quite often, gets him through the night without an attack. It produces sleep as a side effect but doesn't let the user get into REM phase, which is where the Beast can find you. You don't get REM sleep, granted, but sometimes even a few consecutive hours of shut eye is gold when at the peak of a cycle.
As for water - the secret IS drinking enough and staying with it. The first time Mike tried the water treatment, he didn't notice anything until a couple of days of flooding himself. By the end of one week, his cycle was completely gone. This time, it didn't break the cycle but it has certainly been the mildest cycle I have ever seen. Very few middle of the night attacks, his worst day was 5 attacks - but only one day of that. We used to go through WEEKS of that. Drastic reduction in frequency of attacks when using the water treatment. It doesn't work for everyone but hopefully, you will be one of the lucky ones.
Cheers
