to "roast" a guy who has created this awesome community.... how can we do that, when we're all in a little awe of a guy who has single-handedly brought together an international family like this?
My first real image of DJ was way back when, when he and Kelly lost their dog. Mike and I had also recently lost our canine "daughter" and DJ and I emailed back and forth a little to commiserate together. I know I got choked up more than once by his posts/emails about that.
I remember when he went to Kosovo, how we all worried about him while he was over there, and then, while he was there, got the biggest heartbreak of all. We all cried with him.
I remember when you met DJ for the first time, Elaine - when you sent me pictures of you, Nancy and DJ. I was so excited to finally be able to put a face to the name and - you know what? He looked EXACTLY as I expected him to look. (For those of you who have never seen DJ's pic - he's a pretty hot dude.)
I remember being totally blown away when I got an email from DJ asking my "permission" to post the Cluster Traits and the Water x 3 blurbs that I had posted to the message board. My "permission"?? What an honour!!
I remember your trip to New York to see Amanda and DJ. I remember you called me at home, sicker than a dog with a cold you had caught on your very first plane ride...then all of a sudden the line was quiet and a new voice came on the line. It was the man himself. After I taught him how to say my name properly (NOT MarJEE LOL) we talked like old friends. He has a cool voice too.
Now a few of us know there has been a lot of behind the scenes work done for OUCH and some of us also know that with any organization, there are going to be growing pains along the way and resulting disagreements. DJ has always remained a calming infuence within OUCH and we should all be proud to have him at the helm.
And now, our leader is getting beat up yet again. Sucks big time, but we know that he will just take it in stride. I just hope he knows that he has about 2000 times the number of supporters he had when he first started Clusteropolis.
Naw, I don't want to roast DJ....I want to toast him! To DJ!! [insert wine glass clinking sound here]
