What a great board. I've been looking for something just like this! Thank God for the Internet!
I've had episodic clusters since 1985. Was diagnosed in the late 80's and was put of a Migraine Ilimination diet, which, as some of you may know --
DOES NOT WORK. Dropped that Doc fast, but one of the meds he perscribed, does -- Caffergot.
I get my CHs every two years in the Fall, like clockwork, so I know as soon as I feel the first one's comming, I get a script for Caffergot and stay on it untill my ":season" passes which usually does in about 6 weeks. That's the good news; the bad news is, I have to ajust everything; work schedule, diet, and any new friends I've made have to be told. I recently started dating someone new and wasn't it fun when he saw me go through my first major seisure! (he's since learned to not get overly nuts)
Now I'm about mid-way through season, am on my meds and am only getting 1-2 headaches. I pop a Caffergot (usuualy I chew the nasty-tasting thing to get it dissolved faster, yuck!) and hop in a warm shower and try to relax until the med kicks in.
I did have a question, though. I noticed some time ago, before I developed my "plan of attack" that I often rocked during a seisure. I did some reading and
there seems to be some literature that suggests that
CH sufferers often "rock" and that the compulsion to be ampulatory is part of the pathology. Anyone with any new info on this? This infor was on an older computer drive which crashed.
Thanks for letting me babble :)
