For some reason, the textbooks report that 75% of clusters occur at night. So you are hardly alone. Mine personally vary...I don't think I get more at night than I do during the day.
Your telling me that you have "floaters" is concerning. That could be an indication of retinal detachment (retina becomming pulled away from the back of the eye). This is something that can be slowed/stopped by an opthomologist...so I would recommend you see one. Can't ever take chances with your vision. Floaters are not common with cluster headaches.
It is possible that you are describing an aura of a migraine (people are known to have both clusters AND migraines), but it should not be constant, and should resolve before the maximum pain of the headache...and you don't sound like this is what happens to you.
You may just have a strange variant...but I urge you to get a good eye exam.
