My son suffers from CH, just as I did. His started at age 17. I have not heard of pre-schoolers with cluster headaches, but of course, that is not to say that they do not get them.
I would certainly do what you are doing-consult with a pediatric specialist. If you are fortunate enough to have a teaching hospital in your area or a childrens' hospital, you could probably get
more specialized care and diagnosis there.
I am so sorry to hear of a small child that can't even communicate having such a painful problem. Is there a time pattern involved? Does it wake him at night? Or during nap? Having had to support your spouse during these things, you probably know the typical symptoms very clearly, but just to be extremely knowledgeable when you go to the doc with your little one, why not cram on the info offered here? Without being able to converse with the patient, you will have to rely on just your own observations.
