The italics simply show what someone else has wrote. That is why I placed quotation marks around those words. I don't believe that CH is a "dirty little secret" in the medical community. I do believe that there needs to be an understanding and an education of CH spread to the medical community though.
I absolutely, positively agree that CHMB deals with and talks about and cares for and supports CH like no other "community" that I have ever seen or have been a part of in my entire life.
Some progress will absolutely, without question, in the CH-front be made as a direct result of the Internet. The Internet is HUGE and it is world-wide. We have DJ Johnson to thank for this "CH community".
Some progress has already been advanced in the CH-front with the research of Dr. Peter Goadsby and his fellow researchers in England. They were funded by Glaxo Wellcome. This was all done outside the Internet. Dr. Goadsby then went on Australia radio, BBC television, USA Today Newspaper, various other world publications and spread education and awareness of CH. All outside the Internet.
It is my hope that this will continue. Another organization known as O.U.C.H, (Organization for Understanding Cluster Headaches) will soon spread education and understanding about CH too.
I've always been a bit of a cynic and a realist, but I have an optimistic outlook for Cluster Headaches in the future.
