My fear is needles. Been having dental work done w/o novacaine for years. Do I like it? Hell no. But I'd trade any cluster I've ever gotten for 20 minutes under the drill anytime. Hands down.
But let me throw something else into the pot. Having a high tolerance for pain is NOT a good thing. Yes, it certainly helps during clusters. But clusters aside, virtually all pain is the body's way of telling us something is wrong. I tolerated a 'toothache' a while back for about a week, until the abcess got so bad I had a cluster-like night of maybe 90 minutes sleep. Called the dentist as soon as he opened, went right in and he immediately sent me to an Oral Surgeon for a root canal. Busted a rib a few months ago, ignored it for 3 days, til I could hardly move without pain.
Please, don't anyone admire those of us who apparently have high pain tolerance. Combined with the sort of lack of common sense which I obviously also possess, it's hardly a benefit.
