The VA Hospital recently established a numeric pain scale on the 1-5 basis. There is a link a few months back. It was devised as part of chronic pain management. The VA now considers pain to be a 6th sense, like sight, feel, smell, taste and hearing. That makes sense to me.
I used to use my own scale for CH, but adapted to the CHMB convention as a matter of practicality.
If anyone is interested, I can dig up the old scale and publish it for discussion.
