Sounds like you've diagnosed your problem correctly. To me it sounds exactly like Cluster Headache Especially the mention of 45 minutes duration and the head banging. Suggest you try oxygen. And a tip from a sufferer from 37 years of this s---, Keep good notes and records of the meds you try and the results. After a while I tended to forget what happened in the previous cycle, due to the time span between them. Best of luck in controlling these beasts!
