Hi, DM. Sorry to hear you had to join us! I really think the duration of an episode varies quite a bit. 6-8 weeks for me. In my case, first and last 2 weeks are easier, both intensity and frequency. If untreated, I normally get up to 5 unbearable attacks a day. When Verapamil is working great, frequency is down to maybe 5 a week, much less intensity. Because of Verapamil, I've been fooled by the monster.......I think I'm out of an episode after a few days of no attack, then one sneaks in.

Unfortunately, you'd have to get to know your own cycle. No need to worry whether you're chronic or not at this point! Don't get stressed over it! If attacks are fading like you stated, it's possible you are getting out of this episode. I'd suggest to keep an eye for the next couple of weeks. Good news is that you got diagnosed in your very first episode. Many of us went through years of not knowing, before the days of Imitrex.
