Gary, this is a very good peice of logical reasoning and it would be great if we could all apply it, but I'm afraid that it is going to take a lot more than just reading and making it work.
The need for approval and acceptance is just as ingrained in many people as the old theories were, and are, in some of our older population. Sort of like "conditioned reflex" is in all of us. It is something that can't just be explained away and turned off.
It is very painful for those who feel the need for understanding and are unable to attain it.
I am sure tho, that your post will make a lot of us think, and perhaps, work on it as best we can.
And I hope you did have a Happy Birthday you crabby old blankety blank.
