I just found this web site last night and posted my first message in the guest book.
I am a 48 year old male. I first started getting clusters in 1987. For several years after that I would have one cycle each year lasting about 2 months usually occuring in the Spring. To break each cycle the treatment included Sansert, Lithium and Prednisone. It seemed that with the proper doses of Prednisone the cycles would finally break.
To abort the individual headaches I would take, Cafergot which was later replaced by Wigraine.
Other than a few occasional headaches, I haven't had a real cycle period in almost 9 years. I take Verapomil ( Calan ) daily. NOW THEY'RE BACK.
This current cycle started about a week ago and I am getting one headache a day including the ones that wake you up in the middle of the night. Throughout the day, when I don't have a headache, I have that sensation on the side of my face/head that indicates one can come at any minute.
I live in Bridgewater ( Somerset County ) New Jersey and I need to find a Doctor who is familiar with the treatment of clusters. Does anyone know of one? Thanks.
