After seeing a new headache specialist that is superb (he has experienced both classic migraine and CH), I'm open-minded on the migraine-CH debate.
He said the newer studies in Europe using advanced neuroimaging (PET and SPECT) show distinct physiological/biochemical differences between migraine headache and CH.
About the two-hour effectiveness for Zomig and Maxalt: granted, I could never wait that long for relief. I found that in the less-intense stages of my CH cycle, however, that oral Zomig and oxygen aborted moderate attacks within 15 minutes, and was not nearly as hard on me at Imitrex injections.
I am now enrolled in a clinical study that is focused exclusively on the use of nasal Imitrex for CH. Will let everyone know later the outcome of that.
