I used Verapamil years ago with little to show in return except bad constipation.
Saw a new headache specialist this week who I trust much; he said my past dosages were too light to have needed effect.
I'm currently finishing a heavy round of prednisone (60 mg day)as I step up Verapamil from 240 mg daily up to 720 mg daily when the prednisone is tapered off.
Have had only one mild attack since I escalated the prednisone and then began the Verapamil, and I aborted that easily with oxygen.
Customary side effects of both pred and verap; feeling edgy and jittery, actually having trouble getting to sleep despite the prolonged fatigue from a cycle now in its fifth week.
Pharmacist told me that with high doses of Verapamil, one should monitor blood pressure and be cautious about not eating; low BP and low blood sugar can cause fainting.
Best wishes!!!!
