Doing the written exercises in his books have helped me lots of times. Over the last 12-14 years of headaches I've gotten quite depressed from time to time. When I read through one of his books (right now I'm re-reading two: "The Feeling Good Handbook" and "Ten Days to Self-Esteem"), and do the written exercises (especially the Daily Mood Log--takes about 10-20 mins), I not only get over the depression, but I feel the best I ever have in my life. Especially if I combine it with a moderate exercise program.
But I must be a masochist or something, because even though I know how much better I feel when I'm doing that stuff, I usually never do it for more
than two or three months straight before I get lazy & quit. Then I have to wait til the headaches get really, really bad & I'm really in a bad way before I start back doing the reading & the mood log & the exercising.
Just now I'm on Sansert & Depakote and haven't felt like doing any of the those positive things. But tomorrow morning...:)
