I just read Jackies advice and agree. I would also like to suggest, since your still a rookie, to start keeping a journal or diary. This will help you to identify cycles and any precipitators to your episodes. Then you gain control (to some extent) and can plan your life a little better. It is really crappy when you take time off from work for something and spend all that time beating your head against the wall or strung out on pain-killers. Take sick-days instead. If your boss gets upset threaten to sue under the Americans With Disabilities Act. I also want to stress it is vitaly important to involve your family with education as you learn more about our curse. The more they know, the easier it is for them to understand that their will be times (sometimes very scary for youngins') when "mom" is best left alone. Also keep up with this site. Even if you are just looking, you will develope a sense that you are not alone.
As for the "shadow", it means different things to different people. It is almost as if it is a word from a foreign language that just doesn't translate. I best describe it as feeling not-quite-right. You will discover on your own about your shadow. Best of luck and pain free days ahead.
