posted a bit back that BC/BS-Maine had finally come around to OKing O2 for me during my last cluster
all went well then, finally
yesterday I had the doc call in a scrip renewal (needs to be updated annually, that makes sense - can't be COMPLETELY ad lib)and merrily headed for the med supplier
GUESS WHAT !
we've gone backwards !!!
now they want written documentation about multiple diagnosis confirmations, a letter from the current doc specifying the necessity of oxygen (in addition to the scrip), AND itemizing all the other treatment options that have been tried AND what the result was with each of them
SO -
here's the way I see it:
there are only 2 nearly universal CH effective attack abortives:
Imitrex
Oxygen
BC/BS appears to be working overtime to shut off the imitrex flow (see earlier posts)
now they're apparently reversing on the O2
~~~~~~~
I'm working on calming down a bit before I call their new "Client Consultation" 24hr 1-800, "we're here to help any way we can" number
getting my ducks in a row and all that
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I also suspect this may be a backlash from the big "let's all have cluster headache" trend since Goadsby's research hit the news
all these docs sending every strange headache patient off with a CH diagnosis & a scriop for imitrex and/or O2 - no matter WHAT's really wrong with them
it ends up setting us back in our progress with CH care
