I haven’t had a Cluster attack at work in quite some time. So, I guess I was due for one. As I was coaching an employee on the appropriate way to come dressed for work, I could feel the beginning stages of a Cluster attack. I asked the employee to please wear undergarments from this day forward and politely excused her from my office.
I quickly followed Margi’s “water rule” and swallowed my ever-present glass of water that is ALWAYS on my desk. I then plunged the Imitrex needle into my arm and used a cotton swab to give myself a precise 1/3 dose of the medicine. I learned this by following DJ’s “imitrex tip”. I then sat in my chair with my eyes closed and tried to relax and breathe and rock a bit and think “happy thoughts” to try and distract myself from the pain of the Cluster attack. I pretended that Hub and Bob P were in my office dressed in pink spandex. I pretended that they were performing a ballet called “Swan Lake” while Carl D. was playing his guitar. This was a helpful distraction for me.
My Cluster attack soon subsided. I just wanted to share this story with everyone and thank everyone involved. By the way, everyone else from CH.com was sitting in the audience with me and enjoying the “Bob and Hub” Show. Bob and Hub put on a GREAT ballet!!
