I use verapamil to banish the Beast. At the beginning of a cycle, I need to take 180mg (Verapamil SR) 4x per day. It usually takes about a week for the meds to take effect and for the Beast to leave me alone. Since my cycles usually last from 8 to 10 weeks, I take the verapamil at that level for two months. At the end of a cycle, I reduce the amount slowly over a two week period. If the attacks come back, I increase the dosage until they stop for a week, and then begin reducing again. This cycle has taken two reductions, but I'm now down to 180mg per day, and will stop completely this weekend.
