I had very good initial success with oxygen, but felt it decreased over time and became only a temprary relief. My doctor perscribed 8 liters per minute for 8 minutes. Question your doctor thoroughly about any risks from prolonged use of pure oxygen and follow his/her guidance. As recommended in a followup, use a face (rebreather) mask, not a nose tube. Eight liters per minute is considered "fast", so you will use a lot of oxygen. Therefore, you probably want to rent a larger tank on a wheeled cart for home. However, you may want to consider buying a smaller tank to carry in a gym bag when you travel (in the car trunk). You should also speak with your insurance company. Some will only cover the cost of a rental until it equals the cost of a purchase. Furthermore, see if you can find a medical supply store with late and weekend hours, in case you run out. There again, a small tank might help in case the big tank runs out. FInally, of course, be careful with the pure oxygen. While not "flamable", pure oxygen supports combustion and use near an open flame or cigarette can be hazardous.
