I wonder if anyone has ever had anything--including alcohol--trigger an attack when they were NOT in a cluster period? I have ingested everything on these lists--sometimes in large quantities. The only thing that brings on an attack, without fail, is alcohol in any form and as little an amount as a few sips of wine. Since retiring and becoming a house-husband, I cook all our meals and I use a lot of MSG. We like cheeses and almost everything on the "lists." I don't think smoking is a trigger, but believe nicotine could be a factor in the chemical process, possibly causing damage to blood vessels. I have no medical training but it seems that I get a whack in the head when I need oxygen and I run for the tank with the panic of a fish out of water. Is it possible that alcohol, by replacing oxygen in the blood stream, alerts the brain which expands the blood vessels, which stretch the nerves, which hurt the head of the idiot who thought he could have just one beer?
