My first neurologist did some work in England
before starting her "Neurological Headache Clinic"
here in Phoenix. She said part of the work she
did was involved in tabulating the histories of
cluster headaches sufferers. I remember that two
of the things she mentioned that struck her was
that most sufferers had indeed had head injuries
and most were current or former cigarette smokers.
I had a concussion from a bicycle accident when I
was about 10 or 11 yrs old. Just before my
clusters started I had recently started smoking
after a short period of having stopped and shortly
after a Chiroprator (chiro-quack) had used some
sort of spring-loaded device on the back of my
neck--it hurt in a bad way when he used that thing
on my neck (I was being treated for what in
hind-sight was very minor back pain).
